Dr. Kristen Doyle Highland is an Assistant Professor of English at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. She researches nineteenth-century American literature and book history and is currently at work on two book projects, both on bookstores! One takes a close look at how bookselling spaces, including the bookstore, street stall, and catalogue, function as complex spaces of social exchange, and the other examines nineteenth-century New York City bookstores. Kristen has been a teacher for over two decades and welcomes the opportunity to engage with and learn from others with diverse experiences in bookselling.
